Our Story

A long time ago, back when dinosaurs still ruled the earth, Jack first spotted Katherine in his freshman year at a party during Winterfest. Winterfest was a weekend each spring where CC kids would let loose and unleash chaos on Crested Butte ski resort for its closing weekend. As Katherine was one year ahead of him and intimidating as hell- Jack didn’t have quite enough courage to approach her that weekend. But, he did develop a crush. Katherine didn’t officially meet Jack until about a year later, as the frontman of TouchIt (the best student band ever at Colorado College) and she also developed a crush.

Each thought the other cute and intriguing, but some good things take time. Some good things inevitably also arise from bad things, and Katherine and Jack's five year college reunion got scheduled for the same year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic (Katherine is 5 months older, 1 grade senior, and believes herself to be eons wiser than Jack). With encouragement from their friends Mike Raab, Willie Schube, and Madde Burnham, Jack and Katherine both made the trip to Colorado Springs in October of 2021. Little did they know that their life was about to change forever!

On the Saturday of that reunion weekend, Katherine strolled by Jack on Yampa field, which was one of their old infamous CC Tiger stomping grounds. He was in his usual tie dye garb, looking disheveled yet dashing, and lounging in a chair recovering from a long night of shenanigans. She stopped in her tracks and did a double take- was that ... Jack Douglas? They talked for a short while and Katherine eagerly invited him to a party that night. They then spent the whole evening together: catching up, reflecting on the last few years apart, admitting their mutual crush, and sharing a kiss underneath the moon.

Three months later, Jack invited Katherine to come visit him in Carbondale for a weekend, so that they could see what it would be like to spend more time with one another and give their crush a real go. They laughed, played outside in the snow, shared a romantic dinner date of lukewarm pizza in Jack's car in the Whole Foods parking lot, and made Sunday morning pancakes (Katherine's specialty). The time they spent together felt like the good life. They left that initial weekend wanting more, and thinking that each other could very well be their forever person.

Now, after one year of long distance, and nearly three years of building a sweet and simple life in Carbondale, Colorado, Jack and Katherine have become each others’ forever person. They can’t wait to take this next step together by getting married in beautiful Telluride, with all their favorite people- you!
